Halderman should have sold his diary and story to the tabloids. He would have not gotten the millions but at least he could have kept his job and a few bucks at most. Extorting David was stupid, but he did embarass the hell out of him. that must be rewarding to say the least. LOL

Letterman has always been an asshole. From the picture of Halderman, he looks like a douchebag himself. The only "funny" person on late-night network tv is Craig Ferguson. He's got no band, a simple set, and some hand-puppetts YET he IS freakin' hillarious!. Ofcourse, he is in California and the atmosphere is totally different from NYC.
I say fire Letterman AND the latest 'ho for improper fraternization, offer Fergie the job, as long as he can just stay in LA and in the same format. Otherwise, WHO says we actually NEED that much late-night variety to begin with?

That said, Halderman should have walked away. You don't blackmail. Blackmail is inditable. You can't blackmail a woman into love you or regretting a fling.

He went after the wrong person. Dave wasn't living with Halderman, and Dave might not have been given the details of the woman's personal arrangements. The woman is the one who had obligations to Halderman at the time.

I appreciate reading something not laced with profanity. Thank you! However, being a philandering rich guy isn't against the law, but extortion is, therein lies the rub. I seriously don't know what that Halderman was thinking. Perhaps he will claim an insanity defense? As far as DL losing his boy, that won't happen. They don't take kids away from their parents because they sleep with other women, and Dave has far too much money for that. My guess is that if his wife has stuck by him for 25+ years, she will stick this out. I'm sure she's not stupid about what has been going on, if anything.
