Re: 3 – I once wrote a theme (in 7th or 8th grade I think) called "Is the Bible Bullshit?" due to the fact that rape is endorsed throughout the Good Book seemingly by God. What that got me was 2 weeks of extra religious classes thanks to the good Sisters and one pissed off Father Disciplinarian who called my grandparents (they raised me) and told them. He confiscated my paper the ASS. I wish I still had. All I can really remember him saying is 'aren't you a good Catholic girl?'. I was very young so I think I said 'Yes' because I was intimidated. NOW I'd say 'Fuck YOU Father'. Sorry for the rant-but your post brought back memories!

my reason for writing to you is that im curious to understand different philosophies and ideas.

jewish people do not go to hell for rejecting jesus christ as the lord and savior.

those in hell will not suffer, because there is no thoughts and feelings after death.

those in heaven will not be rewarded, because there is no thoughts and feelings after death.

"fiery furnace", "everlasting contemt", and "agony in this fire" are only metaphors used to discribe hell in the bible, therefore they are not literal.
*
some stories in the bible portray thoughts and feelings after death, therefore they are not literal.

3-What I dont get is why do you bring up the Bible passages that you do not believe in. what is the point? If you want to take that as litteral, that would mean that ONE drop of water would on the fingertip would bring relief to someone burning in hell. Also, that water wouldnt evaporate before it reached him down there…both make no sense. Also, that would mean all good people can fit at the bosom of one man, Abraham….again, it isnt logical… Read the entire chapter and you will see he was telling this story to prove another point… He did this all the time in the Gospels. In fact, the Jerusalem Bible, in a footnote says that it is a "a parable in story form without reference to any historical personage." Don't you see that the Bible is not condemning this little girl to that punishment. You have to use common sense 3! Be reasonable 3! I am done with this. You dont really want to have your question answered. You just want to be "right" and argue your point, which has been disproven. I am not coming back to this page.
