It's because of insurance. This is a diagnosis that gets someone admitted for insurance purposes and gets it paid for. So usually IV fluids, and if he required O2 as reported, it could be COPD or some upper respiratory issue, a fever and who knows what else, leading to dehydration. So the question is what's the reason for the dehydration. As someone working in health care, I can tell you the reason for the diagnosis. It's because of insurance.
