Obama is pushing for the olympics in Chicago because he owes Valerie Jarrett a political favor. Jarrett is a slumlord who let her properties like Grove Parc Plaza get so bad that it now may be condemned. WHY? Because she has been pushing for the Olympics in Chicago for a while and is going to demolish her properties that she purposely let get so unlivable so she can get more $$ and have the Olympic village (which as already been promised to her) on her property. What did she do with the $$$ she was suppose to use to improve these unlivable properties and will she pocket this money too? One hand washes the other. Corruption and greed reigns in our government!

I wish "THEY" would help more with the "UNITED STATES" we have so many more things we need to concentrate on. The US needs to be the nation others should aspire to be. The economic downturn in the world economy is the most important thing. So many nations depend on the US for financial support to help them. The Olympics is something the President should not be focusing on.
People in Africa who have AIDS and people who have no food do not care
where the Olympics are, they just want to live.

OMG, what is wrong with our world is people like all you negative haters positing on a website. I have lived in Chicago 20 years and NOT experienced most of what you are b#$%ching about. Yes there is crime but there is crime EVERYWHERE! Since when are The Olympics considered bad? I grew up in a family that respects what they stand for. I sure hope none of you watch the Olympics when they are on television or cheer for any of the atheletes because that would make you hypocrites!

I too am from Chicago and I agree with Ju Ju. Daley lied about the cost and what we are paying… So I am torn too. I do not want the Olympics here but I do because of the focus on America and Chicago. A great city! The jobs created would not be long term, which would be sad.
And although I cannot stand Oprah, I am glad she is out promoting the town that made her famous.
BTW I am not a Bush lover but also not a Obama lover either,
