The German people were in a very vulnerable spot when Hitler took advantage of their fear and anger in the 30's. Their economy was in the trash, their infrastructure was still in rubble from the WW1 and their people were starving!!! He was NOT brilliant, in fact he was absolutely insane and probably a drug addict (look it up)! He took advantage of a weak and downtrodden people to achieve his own sick goals. Thats not brilliance, thats just right place, right time, right sick minded, racist animal…… Do you think taking advantage of people's fear is Brilliance? Look at George W. Bush, he did the same thing after 9/11. Would you call him brilliant?

Regardless of how she meant her statement, she should have known that complimenting some of the most disgraceful human beings, who still affect lives to this very day on a public radio show would be stupid and offensive to others.

Obviously calling someone "brilliant" can come off as a compliment. And think about the situation if you are Cuban or Jewish. These guys are people who have killed generations of your people or completely driven your country to the ground, robbing you of everything you have in life. And she says they are "brilliant". I mean she doesn't think at all and yeah some people are going to get upset. That's like saying Jefferson Davis (the leader of the US confederacy) was "brilliant" to an african american.

She probably did it for publicity. Because after all, no publicity is bad publicity.

The funny thing about this is that when people talk smack about other religions & countries (for instance Islam & the Middle East), it's total okaaaaayy yet when it comes to saying something as simple as I think Hitler was brilliant, the Jewish countries must immediately retaliate! I don't promote violence, and I wouldn't want anyone saying offensive things about my culture, but Audrey wasn't referring to Hitler's actions. Anybody who is able to get that many countries within his control obviously is a genius! That's all that was meant. People just take these small comments and blow them out of proportion.
