It is standard practice to administer lidocaine before bolusing propofol in the OR. Propofol DOES burn...profoundly, so does ketamine and even versed. Propofol infusions in the ICU may not hurt but the volume given for anesthesia inductions does hurt (10-20cc on average) . If he wanted "instant sleep" I'm guessing he would have used a sufficient volume of propofol to need the lidocaine preemptively. Propofol lasts about 10 minutes. It certainly doesn't belong in someone's home and it's not a controlled substance!

[re=4005225]Re: Atomicbombshell[/re] I heard he was licensed in Texas, Nevada and California. I'd like to know if anyone tried Narcan at any point. (Not so useful if he died from the Propofol, but the Demerol?) And I'd also like to know why the doctor was doing CPR on top of a bed instead of on the floor. Sounds like Dr. Feelgood will be going to jail soon -

Perez, you shouldn't write about Michael Jackson until you apologize for accusing him of faking his death in the first place. Take responsibility for what you've said.

I've got a question for the fellow nurses up here - if this doc was giving Demerol, Propofol and God knows what else in MJ's home, what do you suppose he did with the wastes? From what I understand (and I might be wrong) this doc didn't even have an active practice in CA.

More conjecture and rumors. Not one of them you have printed here so far has been true. You said MJ was faking his death. A nurse pumped his stomach etc. But you print this shit anyway. No one will know for several weeks & anything you print until then will be untrue, but you'll will print it anyway. You hate when untrue things are said about you, but you could care less about others.

I'm an ICU nurse & use Propofol almost on a daily basis on my intubated patients only of course! (those on a ventilator). We woudn't dare use it on a non-intubated patient and we have them on cardiac monitors. Also, we never even give this medication to those ventilated patients unless they are on a set rate usually (meaning the ventilator is giving you the breaths you need). And have crash carts near by.

You need an IV for it. It's not even for pain, it's just a SEDATIVE....it will knock you out completely. That's what it's used for. Usually for intubated patients in the ICU or is used in the OR for surgeries (on patients who are intubated).

Someone has clearly fucked up in the care given to him. Sad what a doctor will do to a man for some extra cash flow isn't it?

PS.......Lidocaine is never used with Propofol. Propofol is not painful to use through the IV.

This is crazy! BTW The lidocaine was found at his bedside because it was used during his cardiac arrest, by the medics for irregular heart activity. It's NEVER used because Diprivan is painful during infusing, because it's Not. I don't believe a word of this BS. Get your facts straight prior to posting BullShit thats not even true!
