Mladen George Sekulovich

 Born in Gary, Indiana on March 22, 1914. 
   Academy Award winning actor, working since the 1940's, Karl Malden's most famous roles included his television appearances in "The Streets of San Francisco" (1972), "How the West was Won" (1962), "Streetcar Named Desire" (1951), "On the Waterfront" (1954) and "Patton" (1970). Mr. Malden was class president and a star on the basketball team at Emerson High School.  He graduated in 1931.  From 1931 until 1934, he was a factory worker in the steel mills. He left Gary and attended the Kenneth Sawyer Goodman Memorial Theatre in Chicago where he began to learn his craft and acted in a series of plays.  His career took off in 1937 when he worked on Broadway and did some radio.  In October of 2003, Malden was named the 40th recipient of the Screen Actors Guild's Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.</description>
