he was the drummer for a pretty successful band called phantom planet for a few years before he really got into acting. Know the song "California" in the opening credits to that O.C. show with Mischa Barton? That was him.

his brother is the lead singer for Rooney, so I guess it's in their blood. They're both very talented:)
