As for it being genetic - yes, Pacific Islanders, Germans etc. are more predisposed to being slightly thicker and curvier but that is not obesity. Diets don't work, changing your eating and exercise habits forever do. Perez will gain the weight back if he goes back to stuffing his face and will stay a healthy weight if he keeps up his new habits. I have polycystic ovaries and gained twenty kilos in a year but I managed to lose 30 kilos over two years and I have kept it off for another three. I could have blamed genetics but in reality it was how I was raised - to eat takeaways every night and never exercise. The rest of my family is fat because they eat shit and I am a healthy weight because I eat healthy food. I believe that you are being defensive because you went for the quick fix. Your money would have been better spent on counselling to change your eating habits or to get a tummy tuck and boob lift once the weight had come off naturally. If you don't eat healthily after your surgery you will still feel sick all the time because you aren't absorbing the nutrients that you need, so in the end the surgery was pointless, you might look better but your insides will still be fat. I used to be fat, and I realized that no one else was to blame but me, and I didn't get any surgeries done, I went to the gym and worked out EVERYDAY and walked 4 miles 5 days a week AND changed my diet. It takes an entire overhaul of one's life, not one stupid surgery and go back to eating like a pig! I completely agree. If I had the medical ability to run even one mile I wouldn't have needed bariatric surgery. Running would be awesome, but since I can't, and I choose not to smoke crack a la Winehouse or Raisinface, bariatric surgery worked for me.
