No, no, no, no, NO! The films are so good, why curse them by making a god awful musical? I mean, even if it was 'good' - Shrek as a MUSICAL? The IDEA is a pile of pants!

The funny thing is that Shrek has gotten pretty good reviews out of town. So to say that the production has received bad reviews across the board is simply wrong. The production has been better received than Wicked was out of town, by far. Many shows replace actors who simply don't fit. Out of town tryouts are a way to work out the kinks. True they got rid of two actors in the show, but many shows do that out of town before they open on broadway. The out of town tryout in Wicked was replaced before opening on Broadway and look where it is today. I predict that this show will be a success.

Re: jackers – shrek is dreamworks, not disney. disney has little mermaid, lion king, and mary poppins on broadway right now. lion king grosses over a million dollars a week.

the "show doctor" is Tony Award Winner rob ashford. he is BRILLIANT! not that the artistic team which was headed by jason moore (director of Tony Award Winning "AVE Q") wasn't any good, they just need some outside eyes. that is why shows preview outside on new york.

y do they have 2 ruin yet another disney movie!!!!! who the fuck would want 2 see this considerin its aimed at children!! i know 4 sure that i would not pay that amount of money for my children 2 see that shit all i have 2 do is buy all the fuckin dvds which wouldn't even amount to the price of one seat & sit back watch them be babysat 4 hours!!!! hahahahahaha!!!!!!

I saw it, in Seattle, in its final weekend and actually thought it was pretty good. It was a lot of fun but I think they could have definitely done something different with the dragon. I liked the guy they had playing donkey but could see how somenoe else might make it a little more fun. The Shrek character is great adn there are a lot of fun twists in the story. I hope it does well.

and that is why shows start off broadway or totally out of new york-to tweak things and to get press. They got both.
