It's good. And being someone of Irish bearing myself. I do not find this a disservice to U2's work. Yes, it is a song about a really god awful event in Irish history. A day in history that I am not fond of, hate is never something that a nation can be proud of. I believe in a unified Ireland, not divided by religion and age old hate. This is why there is still unrest, because we are still holding on to the past. Yes, the British have had a horrible history in dealing with Ireland, but if you hang on to this with all the glory of Michael Collins and the IRA all we will breed is more hate. There is no room for hate like that anymore, if we can't grow away from it then we might as well become the Middle East where you're constantly at war over religion and a this person did that mentality. Peace.

Not a bad re-make, but you cannot beat the original. Looks like the video is a screenplay of the kiddie books "I spy" (seek and find books like Where's Waldo?). lol

BOOOOO-RING! What exactly is he adding to this song that is new and fresh? Isn't that the whole reason you do a cover??

i seriously doubt that "Bono would be proud"
this version has too cheery a tone (esp the banjo) to pay respect to a very serious and still fresh event in Irish history. Sunday Bloody Sunday is a song about that particular event, not war in general. putting a few toy soldiers in a rainbow land does not counter act the twinkly tone enough to make it satirical or poignant.
im not a big U2 fan but i do feel that this is one song you should not f*ck with.

I really liked it. And SHINNY—here's why:

The sing-song quality and innocence in his voice matched the video and his message:
Soldiers are often thrown into war when they are mearly children, and that war can strip children of their innocence. Notice how the toy soldiers in the video are doing child-like activities and leisurely games, etc.

Does that help? I am not excusing anything or saying what happened in Ireland should be overlooked. And I am VERY PROUD of anyone who protects their country and freedoms of all, don't get me wrong on that either. But I think that was his personal take on the song and the message he was sending.
