This story is especially close to my heart because my boyfriend was racing him at the time that this happened, and he is extremely good friends with the entire family. Although this is extremely sad, it scares me that this could have happened to my boyfriend as well. It was definitely a reality check of just how scary this sport can be. Its very sad.

We were actually semi-related, by marriage. His grandfather was married to my grandmother.
