That statement represents everything wrong with music these days. Is it odd to find out that some people make music for the JOY of making music, not to be #1 on the charts. But you wouldn't know that because you can only judge them on their ability to crank out some overproduced beat, or the most poppy crap sound ever thrown up onto an album.

I applaud her for taking a chance. obviously she didn't record this album with platinum sales in mind or she would have chosen different material. anyone who has any knowledge of tom waits would get it. obviously you don't.

she is beautiful and a respectable actress, but she sounded like shit on her album. i'm surprised tom let her cover his brilliant songs with a voice like that. he probably has a soft spot for young nubile starlets. i do respect that she obviously has some good taste in music.

I suppose if she made talented music it would have sold better. I couldn't hear her manvoice over all the synthesized nasty music on the album. We may hate Amy Winehouse for her lifestyle but at least she has talent. And at least Scarlett has her boobies and her blowjob lips to make her money forever

I like her music. It makes me think of sitting at a little round table and watching someone sing in a small, intimate club in the city. The funny thing is I dont believe Scarlett cares what people think of it. It was more of a personal thing for her. Scarlett is an extremely versatile and talented actress. I love her woody allen flicks. I am looking forward to the new one since it was filmed in Spain. It is gonna be great. Plus it has Penelope in it too. She is gorgeous like Scarlett.

I like the reason she gave for doing it. That she was asked to do an album of Tom Wates covers and her musician friends would have loved the opportunity and she understood how lucky she was. That's all cool with me and probably means she will stick to acting. Love her but yeah I wasn't into her music much. She basically just sang the notes in the right order with the right rhythm, she didn't have a lot of musicianship in my opinion. Holla if you know what I mean. lol
