Why on earth did you refer to India as a "former British colony"? India is a beautiful country and has a lot more going for it then being a "former British colony". Besides, whether it was a British colony or not has nothing to do with the article, it is totally irrelevent. To polish off an old cliche, stick to what your used to and don't editorialise like that.

I'm pretty sure you can only adopt from India if your heritage is Indian. Or at least that's how it was a couple of years ago.

Remember how Joan Crawfod adopted kids (4 in all, I think), and it was really just about getting press during lull times in her career. I think most of us remember how those kids were treated. (you say that you don't know, than read Mommy Dearest).

You know why you don't hear of that many Indian babies being adopted by Americans? Because no matter what the needs are to help Indian orphans, the Indian government doesn't let Indian babies out of the country for foreign adoptions. Good luck, I think she'll face an even tougher time in India.
