Studios and networks take meetings with unknown/ smalltime producers, then take their ideas to their friends at more established companies. I personally know several people who've seen the shows (or VERY SIMILAR versions) they pitched on HBO, MTV, and the Discovery Channel. This is an everyday thing. Most of the shows that you're watching on TV are *stolen* ideas. Studios and networks take meetings with unknown/ smalltime producers, then take their ideas to their friends at more established companies.
