Weird that no one else I know of heard it. Jodie Foster could make a big difference in a lot of lives if she came out, including mine. But not everyone wants to be an activist, and I guess I can respect that. She still remains a positive role model - independent, smart, makes solid films with strong female leads. She's been seen in public with her partner for ages. She never denies being a lesbian in interviews. There's nothing wrong with keeping ones partner and children out of the lime light. Just because you're gay, lesbian, bi, or transgender doesn't mean you have to wave the rainbow flag where ever you go. She's a classy woman who does it her own way. While I completely agree that gay celebrities staying in the closet only hurts the very real need for society to see gay men and women as equals and homosexuality as a part of the human condition, Jodie Foster gets a pass from me. After John Hinckley Jr.'s action on 3/30/81 and public admission that it was done for Jodie Fosters benefit, she has every right to enforce a strict boundary between herself and her movies, the public and her private life. Sadly, her choice to do so has political aftershocks but when it comes to her, and her alone, I give a pass for not being bolder. She wants to live in the closet, so be it. If one, albeit unstable, person tried to assassinate the President of the United States (btw I am not nor have I ever been a fan of Regan but assignation is wrong) for her she has a right to be wary of intentionally or unintentionally becoming a spokes person for any cause, even the great one for gay rights.
